ReBoot™ is a 3-D action adventure where the
player, a guardian named Bob, battles the
destructive forces of Megabyte, a robotic
villain. The game is set in Mainframe, an
expansive, futuristic 3-D world that exists
inside a computer. Derived from the popular
Canadian television series of the same name,
ReBoot’s action centers on Megabyte’s desire
to take control of Mainframe.
Megabyte has ordered his viral army to stop
Bob from mending his Tears - destructive balls
of energy that detonate if left unmended - and
eventually seize control of Mainframe. Bob
uses his zipboard, a floating skateboard, to
explore Mainframe while battling everything
from flying tanks to menacing robots, armoured
gun turrets, viral chariots, crazed forklifts,
saber-toothed sea slugs and much more
before confronting Megabyte himself.
Characters are modeled with a single-skin
technology, which applies a single texture over
an entire character allowing for fluid
animations. Bob’s friends, Phong and others,
provide valuable advice and identify objectives
in real-time video windows that pop up during
gameplay.
